I love being a San Diego wedding photographer.  I love the fact that I can have a beach wedding one week and then a mountain wedding the next.  Michael and Sierras wedding took place in Lakeside at their home church and then we drove up into Alpine to Sierra’s home for the reception.  I’ll admit I’ve never driven that far east before and the roads got pretty narrow and windy.  Their home was pretty much surrounded by mountains and was absolutely breathtaking.  It was hard to narrow down my favorites for this blog – so here’s many of my favorites from their gorgeous day.

Michael and Sierra chose not to see each other before the ceremony.  However, they did take a few minutes to pray with each other beforehand with Michael blindfolded.  Sierra had those nervous-excited jitters before getting to see her groom.

They got married at the church they had grown up at together.  Their prayer happened on the playground where many years before they had held a pretend wedding with each other.  I think this might be one of the sweetest romances I have ever heard!

The image below on the left was taken by my wonderful assistant Wendy.  She was a huge help throughout the day and even snagged a few photos off the balcony for me during the ceremony.  Her amazing photography can be seen here!

It’s a tradition in the Butcher family to make up a song for the bride and groom when someone says “I do”.  They had everyone laughing 🙂454647

Josh and Melissa live in Phoenix but traveled to San Diego for a mini getaway over the forth of July weekend.  They contacted me several months back knowing my work from a referral back in Illinois where they also went to school at Illinois State.  Crazy!  It was fun to connect with them and meet their SWEET little girl Lillian.  She was just as cute as you could get!  They really wanted some beach pictures so we hit up Cornado beach for this session… one of my favorite locations for families.  Here are a few of my favorites.

What Melissa didn’t tell me during our session was that she is a photographer TOO!  She made a couple comments about lighting and I thought to myself, she must have an eye for this.  Well of COURSE.  She’s a photographer and I didn’t even know it until we became Facebook friends and I stalked her website 🙂  A really good one if I don’t add!!  Check out her website at www.melissaivy.com, or her Facebook at www.facebook.com/melissaivyphotography.  Melissa, your work is beautiful!

I’ve never shot at the La Jolla Bowl before and was so excited to be apart of this ceremony.  DavyLynne and her husband Steve are from my hometown in Illinois but decided to do a destination wedding in La Jolla because of some family who lived near the coast.  My husband married them as well.  She planned the entire wedding from afar!  Bravo DavyLynne!  And it turned out BEAUTIFUL!  We began at her brother’s condo which was maaaybe a minute walk from one of the most beautiful beaches in La Jolla.  Lovely.  Here are some of my favorites, but oh how I had such a hard time choosing.

DavyLynne and Steve both had children previously so combined they’ve became quite the Brady Bunch family with a grand total of six kids!  During the service they all put their hands together and prayed for their marriage and family.  151617

  • Hey Jamie, This is BEAUTIFUL. Great job. Perfect photojournalism documenting such a beautiful day! Very lovely & you are filled with talent & love.

San Diego Engagements might be one of my favorite things to photograph.  Everyone looks amazing…. there’s no time constraints… we have full lighting control with session planning.  Ugh.  I love it.  Sierra & Michael are getting married this July and I’m so excited I get to be apart of their wedding day.  We did a mini engagement session at Mission Trails Park right before sunset.  The light was simply beautiful.  Here are a few of my favorites from their sesh!
