When I moved out to San Diego two years ago, I was so sad to leave my incredible client base in Illinois.  So when Haley contacted me about shooting her midwest wedding and flying me back for it, I was thrilled!

She had sent me some photos of the location where she was going to have her ceremony: a barn at the home she grew up in.  I was elated!  The pictures, however, were before Haley and her family had transformed this plain barn into a wedding wonderland.

When I arrived and discovered just how magical they had made their wedding site… I literally could barely control my giddiness.
The detail was incredible and the decorations exquisite.  Her mom even personally made the bouquets!

Here are some (okay maybe a lot) from their midwest barn wedding.

The image below was taken by my second shooter, Naomi Wilcox, of Nomi Photography, who I also met for the first time the day of the wedding.  The images she took turned out fabulous and the one below is one of my favorites of their first look!16182526

 ♥ EXCITING NEWS!

A new blogsite is definitely cause for celebration!

I am offering $100 off the first three portrait, family or engagement sessions booked after launch and 20% off the first wedding booked!

What can get better than that?

Simple state “new site promo” in the message portion when using the contact form here on the site. And book away!

I’m so excited to introduce my new blogsite!  After two years of being a busy little bee with my family, kids, church, and friends…. and allowing my site to get, oh, well shall we say dusty.  I FINALLY get to launch my brand new site!  I love it.  I feel like it suites me.

I’m also making the plunge to specialize in San Diego weddings & families.  Since I’ll be taking on such limited sessions and weddings per year, I really want to narrow in.  Love.  Marriage. Weddings. Family.  I KNOW that.  I’ve been there…. I am there.  I know how much I love seeing a photograph that documents so accurately these parts of my life.  I feel like the work I can create comes from what I know and what I love and what I experience.

My husband and I love the saying, “These are the good old days”  It’s so easy to go through life frazzled, frustrated, or ready to get to the next stage only to look back in 10 years and miss those same moments desperately longing to go back!  Our kids are only little once…. we’re only newlyweds for a short time… THESE are the good old days.  You’re living in ’em!   This is why I believe so much in photography and seizing these moments.

And soooo, since I’m celebrating that this website is finally up…. hopefully you’ll celebrate with me by booking a session.  You can use the contact form on the website to inquire about more information or start the booking process!  (Please know these sessions will be scheduled for August and beyond)

Thank you for coming to check out my new site.  I hope you love it as much as I do.

Much love ♥
Jamie

Your new website is gorgoeus! Love the layout! 😉

I met Rebecca only a couple months after moving to our new home in San Diego, CA.  I was about two days away from delivering my son Shepherd and trying rapidly to finalize and finish up my wedding from the month before.  I don’t remember getting much work done because Rebecca and I hit it off so well and chatted for a good long while at that little table.  She is one of the sweetest, most genuine, down to earth girls I know.  We stayed in touch and she eventually became apart of the launch team for the church we moved out west to start, Rise City Church.  One of the topics we talked about on our “first date” was her passion to be a nurse but the brutal two years of nursing school she had ahead of her.  Fast forward to now.   She’s graduating.  I’m so proud of this girl as I’ve seen her faithfully dedicate herself to a career she loves and wants to make an impact in.  Congratulations Rebecca.  Graduation is right around the corner!  Thanks for letting me photograph your beautifulness!

Rebecca couldn’t keep a serious face for anything.  Lots of laughing.  I was able to snag a few shots though and was quite pleased!

It felt like a dream getting to photograph in Newport Beach.  While I consider myself a San Diego Wedding Photographer, I am always up for traveling to new beautiful beaches… and this one.  Whew.  Beautiful.  A place I had grown up only reading about in books (literally) now came to life as I photographed my first ever beach wedding since moving to California.  I met Aida only via phone since she had just moved up to LA and was busy getting settled and beginning her acting career.   We clicked so well over email though I knew it was she and Blake were going to be fabulous to work with.

Aida and Blake opted for a intimate and simple elegant wedding with only a few family members.  It was beautiful.

A first dance flowed naturally after their pronouncement of husband and wife.  Such a sweet moment in time.

The week prior we were all hovering over our phones checking weather updates.  It was about 50% chance of rain up until only a day before.  I had rain gear all ready to go but thankfully the skies held out and gave us some beautiful sun!  It was just cold!  And I mean COLD.  And with no refuge to warm up, Blake & Aida were troopers staying out close to sunset with no relief from the frigid air!

Blake’s sister, Ali Janesky, did Aida’s hair.  It was gorgeous!  I was so impressed with how well it held up amidst all the wind.

I can’t even express what an amazing opportunity it was to attend United 2014 in Santa Barbara.  I made the trek up the coast with three friends to attend this conference I knew barely anything about.  All I knew was I was going to get a lot of hugs and learn a lot about photography.  While both proved true, I could not be more impressed with not only the sheer talent and abilities the leaders running the conference, but what truly real and servant hearts they had in the midst of their prominent professions.  I left the conference not only desiring to be a better photographer, but a better wife to my husband, mom to my children, and servant to all my clients and friends.  I don’t know how they did it, but I admire them greatly and I think my husband was pleasantly surprised when I came home.  He was afraid my brain would be too stuffed full of information I wouldn’t leave my computer for days afterwards 🙂

In the midst of our move across country.  Our new baby.  Our new church.  And so many other life changes tugging at my heart the last two years…. my photography passion has politely waited in the corner while everything else gets settled.  But I learned that that’s okay.  That it might not get the major renovations I dream up in my mind late at night, or the deep concentration daily as I pour over thousands of pictures from my booked out calendar year.  But that’s okay too.  I learned simple is better.  For me anyways.  At this point in my life.  I love what I do and never want to stop.  But right now, In the midst of loads of diapers… Weekly playdates with my amazing friends…  Cooking dinners and carting kids around…  Movie nights with my husband and morning times with my God.  This.  These things.  Only make my passion stronger and I think, make me a better photographer.  I’m ready to dive back in slowly.  And not get all crazy and book myself out like I did when I was kidless.  But I want to do what I do well, even if it is in small doses for now.

I will continue to revise and update.  Narrow my focus and find my specialties.  But honestly.  It’s not going to be overnight.  I will love my clients well, and I will love my family well.  But it can’t be in that order.  I learned all that from this conference…. seriously right?!  A special thanks to my friends Megan, Wendy & Chris for letting me word vomit all my feelings on the ride home.

So here’s to that.  And photography.  Because I seriously, absolutely, positively love this.

The first shoot I’m going to blog just a couple from, was my class with Jordan & Amy Demos, an amazing photography team located in Scottsdale AZ whose work I am just in love with.  Check them out at amyandjordan.com.  Their models for the shoot were Alexa Anderson & Matthew Kazmierczak, possibly recognized from the show “So you Think You can Dance” season 9??  They rocked this session.

On Wednesday we headed out to Grassini Family Vineyards to photography our model bride & groom, Tori & Brett Benham.  A shout out to their amazing generosity in letting us use their Winery as well as Rincon Floral for the beautiful bouquet!
We caught a little bit of sun the first 20 minutes and then she tucked away but thankfully gave us some beautiful soft light the rest of the morning.

Also wanted to say thank you to Montana Dennis for leading and teaching the shoot and Kristin Bell for coordinating all the details!  You both are amazing!!
And one.  Just of all us.  For kicks.  Now  you really understand how awesome our models were to put up with 30 photographers catching every blink.  Thank you Brett & Tori 🙂
